Creamy Hot Chocolate Recipe With Fluffy Peppermint Whipped Cream Beverages Holidays Desserts

Baby, it’s getting really cold outside. Warm up this holiday season with this hot chocolate recipe that has a fun peppermint whipped cream on top. Mmm!

This is a festive hot cocoa drink recipe to serve on Christmas Day or Christmas morning. Decorate mugs of the hot chocolate with candy canes. Makes a delicious dessert, too.

Ingredients

Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup cold heavy cream 
  • 3 candy canes

Hot Chocolate

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Here's how you make it:

  1. For the whipped cream, crush the peppermint candy. Whip the cream until soft peaks form. Add in 2 to 3 tablespoons crushed candy canes and continue to whip until heavy peaks form. Store in the refrigerator. 
  2. For the hot chocolate, whisk together the cocoa, sugar, salt and milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat until cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Stir in vanilla.
