Hot chocolate is a winter staple in my house. After an afternoon of sledding or building snowmen, it's the first thing my kids ask for when they come indoors.
In order to help prevent burned little tongues and lips, I like to put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the hot chocolate before I throw in the marshmallows. This helps to cool it down enough for them to start sipping, and adds some creaminess to the hot chocolate, too. Try different flavors for a fun twist, like:
- chocolate
- peppermint
- cookies 'n cream
- mint chocolate chip
- chocolate peanut butter
For even more decadence, add a dollop of whipped cream!
