Courtney Cox's Coffee-Rubbed Steak Recipe: One of the Best Says a Steak Connoisseur Beef Grilling Dinner

If you love steak and bold flavors, Country Cox's steak recipe should be part of your summer cookout lineup! The coffee-rubbed steak recipe is so simple and so good you will be making it again and again.

To make this juicy steak you will need just a few simple ingredients. Here is your short shopping list (you may already have everything in your kitchen!): Steaks, olive oil, coarse salt, coarse black pepper, brown sugar and ground coffee. The steaks are coated in all the ingredients before being grilled to your desired doneness. Here is a cheat sheet:

Rare: 125 degrees F
Medium Rare: 135 degrees F
Medium: 145 degrees F
Medium Well: 150 degrees F
Well: 160 degrees F

Ingredients

• steaks
• olive oil or truffle oil
• coarse salt
• coarse ground black pepper
• brown sugar
• ground coffee

Recipe Notes

• I recommend either ribeye steaks or New York strip steaks for this recipe.

• I used kosher salt for this recipe.

• I recommend a fine coffee like an expresso grind, but use your favorite coffee.

• Be sure to let the steaks rest before slicing. 

Here's how to make it.

1. Let steaks come to room temperature.
2. Coat with olive oil or truffle oil.
3. Apply a liberal coating of coarse salt.
4. Apply an even coat of the coarse ground pepper.
5. Sprinkle with brown sugar (about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon)  
6. Sprinkle with coffee (about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon).
7. Use a spoon to massage everything into the steak. Turn over and repeat on second side.
8. Grill or broil as you would any steak. Use an instant read thermometer to get your desired doneness. I grilled mine to an internal temperature of 125 degrees F. Please keep in mind the internal temperature will rise an additional 5 degrees F after removing from heat.
9. Let sit for 5 minutes before eating. This allows the juices to properly distribute.
