A Chef's Favorite 5-Ingredient Vinaigrette Base Recipe Salads Sauces/Condiments Gluten-free Vegetarian

I love this quick vinaigrette base! The simple five-ingredient vinaigrette recipe is easy to assemble quickly and tastes great on those salad greens. You will wonder why you ever purchased bottled dressing to begin with.

Here are the ingredients you need to whisk up this easy homemade vinaigrette salad dressing recipe: olive oil, vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice (fresh is best), kosher salt and black pepper. Shake all the ingredients together (or use a mixing bowl and whisk), and get ready for a flavor explosion on your salad. This vinaigrette also makes a great gluten-free marinade for chicken.

The type of vinegar you select will alter not only the color of your vinaigrette, but also the flavor. So use your favorite vinegar in this recipe, or get creative and use a combination.

Recipe Notes

  • Store this in your fridge for up to one month. Remove from the refrigerator before using to bring oil to a liquid state.
  • Add any of your favorite herbs or aromatics to this vinaigrette. Just keep in mind adding anything fresh will cut down storage time to about a week to 10 days.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine oil, vinegars, mustard, honey and lemon juice in a large mason jar or airtight container.
  2. Cover and shake vigorously until emulsified, about 30 seconds.
