Crazy Good Copycat Rosemary Bread Recipe Just Like Macaroni Grill Bread/Muffins Italian Recipes Snacks Side Dishes

It's been years since I've been to a Macaroni Grill restaurant. But when I saw this copycat recipe, memories of the restaurant's warm bread flooded back. And if you know our family, you know we love bread, especially when it's hot out of the oven!

This easy copycat Macaroni Grill rosemary bread recipe will have you making fresh bread as a snack for your family and friends whenever you want. You don't need a lot of ingredients to make this fresh, homemade bread. Here is your short shopping list: granulated sugar, olive oil, dried rosemary, salt, black pepper and flour.

Serve this hot rosemary bread as a side dish with your favorite dinner recipes. We love it with spinach artichoke chicken casserole and creamy slow-cooked lemon chicken. It would be fabulous with any pasta recipe, and you could even slice it for sandwiches.

Ingredients

• 1 packet (.25 ounces) active dry yeast
• 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
• 1 cup warm water (divided)
• 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing and serving (divided)
• 2 tablespoons dried rosemary (divided)
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
• freshly ground black pepper

Recipe Notes

• If you don't like rosemary, use another dried herb of your choosing, like herbs de provence.

• The warmer your kitchen, the faster the dough will rise.

• If your dough has doubled and it's been less than the hour, move on to the next step. In the summer, mine always rises pretty fast.

Here's how to make it: 

1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the sugar, yeast and 1/4 cup of water in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes or until it gets a foam on top.
2. In the yeast bowl add the flour, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons rosemary, salt and 3/4 cups warm water.
3. Mix by hand until dough forms. On a lightly floured surface gently knead dough by hand for about 5 minutes.
4. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, rub a little olive oil on the inside and place and put the ball of dough inside. Cover with a tea towel and let it sit for up to an hour or until it doubles in size.
5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set to the side. Place dough on a floured service and divide the dough in half.
6. Knead each piece for about a minute adding small amounts of flour if the dough is wet. Shape into a ball and place on the parchment. Repeat with the second half of the dough.
7. Let the loaves sit for about 1 hour.
8. When dough has sat for 45 minutes preheat oven to 400 degrees F. When oven is hot, place loaves in oven to cook for 10 minutes. Remove and brush with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt, pepper and rosemary, if desired. Return to the oven and bake another 10 minutes or until golden brown.
9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
