Secret Ingredient Red Wine Vinaigrette Recipe: You Won't Believe the Ingredient List Sauces/Condiments Salads
I have to admit when I first saw the ingredients in this red wine vinegar salad dressing recipe I was a bit skeptical. Then I made the interesting vinaigrette and wow, I'm totally sold. We topped an amazing roasted cauliflower spinach and halloumi salad with this homemade salad dressing and it is now one of our favorite meals. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This red wine vinaigrette recipe has an interesting ingredient list: shallot, raisins, preserved lemon, red wine vinegar, olive oil and honey. Yes, you read right! The minced shallot, raisins (regular or golden), preserved lemon (here's how to make homemade preserved lemons), red wine vinegar, olive oil and honey are stirred or shaken together. Season with salt and black pepper and it's ready to roll.
The secret ingredient? Well, there's two actually: salty and tart preserved lemon and sweet raisins. Enjoy this tasty, flavorful homemade salad dressing on your favorite salads or as a sauce on grilled fish, meat or vegetables.

Ingredients
- 1 small shallot, minced (about 1/3 cup)
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1 large preserved lemon skin, very thinly sliced (about 2 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 4 tablespoons good olive oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all ingredients in a container with a lid. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Shake to combine.
