Traditional? No. But this fun Vietnamese salad recipe inspired by the bánh mì sandwich is delicious. The pork meatballs could also be served with rice noodles or over fried rice with egg rolls.

Ingredients
- 10 - 12 ounces ground pork
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/3 cup finely chopped green onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons finely minced lemongrass
- 2 tablespoon oil, for frying
Dressing
- 3 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 hot chile, minced
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Salad
- lettuce leaves
- sliced radish
- julienned carrot
- julienned cucumber
- fresh chopped cilantro
Here's how to make it:
- For the sauce, combine all the ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
- For the meatballs, combine all the ingredients and mix until combined. Shape into meatballs. Heat the oil in a skillet. Cook the meatballs until cooked through and golden, about 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
- To assemble the salad, put lettuce leaves on serving plates. Add the radish, carrot, cucumber, cilantro and meatballs. Serve with the dressing on the side.
