3-Ingredient Brown Sugar Syrup Recipe: A Must for Pancakes or Waffles Breakfast Brunch

Maple syrup is good, but brown sugar lovers will be sweet on this easy brown sugar syrup recipe. Pour it over pancakes, waffles, biscuits or even fried chicken. Anything! 

With just four simple ingredients (that includes the water!), you need to make some for your weekend brunch or breakfast. You will not regret it. 

To make the brown sugar syrup, cook brown sugar and water together in a saucepot on the stovetop. Slowly start adding in the butter, stirring, until everything is melted together. Stir in the vanilla extract and you're done. So simple. And with this syrup, you know what's in it compared to store-bought pancake syrups. Fresh is always best.

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Put the water and brown sugar into a small pot. Cook over medium heat until the sugar melts and mixture comes to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for about 4 minutes. 
  2. Slowly add the butter, stirring until each piece has melted. Remove from heat and add the vanilla.
