Love Potion #9 Cocktail Recipe for Valentine's Day: When Whiskey Meets Champagne Cocktails Holidays

Love champagne, but deep down you're a whiskey kind of girl? You can have both with this refreshing cranberry whiskey cocktail recipe. And with its pretty red color, this Love Potion #9 cocktail is perfect for Valentine's Day.

The refreshing cocktail is a combination of whiskey or bourbon, Grand Marnier (orange liqueur), cranberry juice and champagne for a little fizz action. The ingredients are shaken together in a cocktail shaker before being poured over ice. 

For fun, garnish this whiskey champagne cocktail with a cute heart-shaped cranberry ice cube. If you want the cocktail even redder, add some red food coloring to the shaker.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce whiskey or bourbon
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • champagne

Here’s how to make it:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, Grand Marnier and cranberry juice. Add ice and shake.
  2. Strain into a martini glass or highball glass.
  3. Add champagne to almost fill the glass. 
  4. Add a little crushed ice. Garnish with a cranberry ice heart, if desired. 

Here's how to make cranberry ice cubes:

  • Fill a heart-shaped ice cube tray or regular ice cube tray with cranberry juice. 
  • Add some red food coloring, if desired, to make it more red. 
  • Freeze until solid.
