Artichoke dip goes way back in my family. Baked artichoke dip was a must at family holidays and get-togethers. We recently got together for game night and I decided to try a new dip recipe out. My daughter, who loves artichoke dip, said she actually enjoyed this cheesy baked hearts of palm dip recipe just as much. I scored at game night even before the board games came out of the closet!
This high-protein hot dip recipe is super simple to prep and only requires six simple ingredients. Here is your short shopping list for this hearts of palm appetizer recipe: a can of hearts of palm, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, green onions (scallions), sour cream and mayonnaise. You can embellish the gluten-free dip with optional ingredients like hot sauce (think Tabasco sauce), fresh garlic and black pepper.
Hearts of palm is a vegetable that comes from the inner core of certain palm trees. The white vegetable has a mild flavor that is similar to an artichoke. Hearts of palm can be eaten cooked or raw. Because of the texture, the vegetable is used often as a meat substitute. Learn more about the health benefits of hearts of palm. You can find hearts of palm on the canned vegetable aisle near the canned artichokes.
Serve this hot vegetable dip as an appetizer or snack with crackers, chips or bread. You may need to write an apology note to your artichoke dip after one bite.
