I recently made an overnight brisket for Father’s Day. This brisket smoked for a total of 17 hours. My neighbors and co-workers who tried it said that it was the best brisket ever. One thing that made it so delicious was my brisket rub. Every brisket needs a good dry rub before hitting the smoker.
You will need to raid your spice rack for this dry spice blend recipe. Here is what you need to grab: onion powder, ground paprika, chili powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, ground cumin, dried oregano and optional ground red pepper (aka cayenne). From the pantry you'll need brown sugar. Whisk all these aromatic ingredients together and you're ready to rub it all over that brisket. I double this recipe for large briskets.
Don't stop at brisket. This gluten-free spice rub recipe is also wonderful on steaks and ribs. What will you use it for?
