We love shortcut recipes at 30Seconds. Who doesn't want a quick and easy meal that everyone enjoys and doesn't make you spend a lot of money on ingredients and a lot of time in the kitchen? Sometimes the spice aisle is the best place to find ingredients for shortcut recipes. One simple spice is sometimes all it takes to make another ingredient shine. In this juicy grilled pork chop recipe that spice is harissa.
Harissa is a spicy chili paste or dry spice blend that originated in Tunisia, North Africa. Harissa is smoky, garlicy, peppery and citrusy. My daughter and I found a wonderful harissa spice blend at a market in Sacramento. The heat was mild and the flavors intense. The heat level changes from brand to brand, so find one that suits your own personal tastes.
To make these harissa pork chops you just need three ingredients: pork chops, harissa spice and olive oil. The pork chops cook up on the grill in about 10 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of your chops.
Serve this simple high-protein pork recipe for dinner with your favorite side dishes. I served mine with steakhouse green beans with shallots. Delicious!
Cuisine: American / Tunisian
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 pork chops (I used bone-in, thin-cut pork chops)
- 1 teaspoon harissa spice (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Here's how to make it:
- Season both sides of the pork chops with the harissa seasoning. Add salt and black pepper, if desired. Drizzle with the olive oil. You can cook immediately or let them sit and soak up the spice. If you're letting them sit for longer than 30 minutes, put them into the fridge.
- Heat your grill to medium-high heat. Cook the pork chops. flipping occasionally, until cooked through, about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness of your pork chops. If you don't have an outdoor grill, you can cook them in a grill pan, cast iron skillet or on an indoor grill.
- Let the chops rest a few minutes before serving. This recipe can easily be doubled.
