Balsamic vinegar has been off my pantry shelf a lot lately. After getting a taste of my balsamic pork recipe, my taste buds were craving that tangy, sweet flavor. These skillet balsamic green beans hit the spot and were a mouth full of flavor in every bite.
This green bean side dish recipe was ready to be served in about 15 minutes. The only prep was trimming the ends off the fresh green beans and mincing the garlic. To make these healthy green beans (read about the health benefits of green beans) you will need the following ingredients: fresh green beans, olive oil, garlic, balsamic vinegar, honey, onion powder, salt and black pepper. The side dish cooks up on the stovetop in no time.
Cooking Tips: Use the best balsamic you can for this recipe. A good balsamic makes all the difference. For some crunch, garnish with chopped walnuts, almonds or pine nuts. For some spice, add some crushed red pepper flakes.
The low-calorie, low-sodium green beans are crisp and coated in a sweet and tangy balsamic glaze. Side dish perfection! Serve these balsamic green beans as a side dish with dinner. The vegetable complements chicken, pork, lamb, beef and seafood. You can't go wrong. Leftover green beans are delicious tossed in a grain bowl or salad.
