To make this sweet apple fritter recipe with vanilla glaze, you only need basic pantry and fridge ingredients. Here is your short shopping list (you may have it all in your kitchen already!): granulated sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt, milk, lemon juice, fresh healthy apples, vegetable oil for frying, powdered sugar and vanilla extract.

These sweet fritters are wonderful for breakfast with a cup of coffee, as a sweet snack just because, or for dessert after dinner.

Ingredients

Fritters

• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup milk
• juice from 1 lemon
• 2 - 3 cups chopped apples (Granny Smith work well) 
• vegetable oil, for frying

Glaze

• 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
• 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3 teaspoons water (or as needed) 

Recipe Notes 

• The number of servings will vary depending on how big you make your fritters.

• Use whatever apples you like, but apples that work best for pies will work best for these fritters, too. 

• Do not crowd the pan when frying the fritters. You may have to fry in batches.

• You could sprinkle the tops with extra ground cinnamon or mix some into the glaze.

• Store the fritters in an airtight container to keep them fresh. 

Here's how to make it: 

1. Cream together the granulated sugar and eggs with an electric mixer. 
2. Add the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt and milk. Mix well. 
3. In another mixing bowl, toss the apples with the lemon juice. Add the apples to the batter. Stir to combine. 
4. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a skillet to 375 degrees F. Drop mounds of the fritter batter into hot oil. Cook until golden brown on one side. Carefully flip the fritters cover and cook until golden and cooked through, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove to a paper towel. 
5. Make the glaze by stirring together all the ingredients. Drizzle or brush the glaze over the hot fritters. Let the fritters cool slightly before serving.
