Pork chops are one of my all-time favorite dinners. I really haven't found a bad way to cook a pork chop, but pan-fried crispy pork chops top my list. This easy crispy Mediterranean pork chop recipe is seasoned to perfection, golden and has a crispy outside and juicy inside. Another plus? It's on the table in about 15 minutes.
To make these lemony skillet high-protein pork chops, you will need ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Here is what you need to grab for this Mediterranean-inspired pork dinner: pork chops (I used bone-in pork chops), flour, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, Mediterranean seasoning, a lemon for zesting and olive oil. The pork chops cook up in a skillet on the stovetop in about 10 minutes.
These quick and easy pork chops go well with almost any side dish. I served mine with fresh corn on the cob and a fresh salad with some creamy homemade ranch dressing.
Cuisine: Mediterranean / Greek / American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 pork chops, bone-in
- 1/3 cup flour (all-purpose or gluten-free flour)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Mediterranean seasoning, Greek seasoning or Italian seasoning
- zest from 1 lemon, plus for for serving
- olive oil
Here's how to make it:
- Combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, Parmesan cheese, Mediterranean seasoning and zest from one lemon on a plate or in a shallow bowl. (To add a spicy kick, sprinkle in some ground cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes.)
- Heat a tablespoon or two of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper. Dredge the pork chops in the seasoned flour. Put into the hot oil and cook until golden on one side.
- Flip the pork chops over and continue to cook until golden and cooked through. (The cooking time will depend on how thick the pork chops are. If you're not sure, you can always use a meat thermometer to check the doneness. Pork is done at 145 degrees F internal temperature. If you want to remove any excess oil, put the pork chops on a paper towel before serving.)
- Serve the pork chops with more lemon zest sprinkled on top. This recipe can easily be doubled. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat as desired.
