Fluffy Peppermint Whipped Cream Recipe Is Beyond Delicious (10 Minutes) by Elisa Schmitz
I am addicted to making homemade whipped cream. Making your own whipped cream at home is so easy, and the results are absolutely amazing. My latest is this luscious peppermint whipped cream recipe that is beyond delicious!
After making this easy bourbon whipped cream recipe, which is like happiness on a spoon, I decided to try my hand at making peppermint whipped cream to top our hot chocolate this winter. One word: WOW! It's so rich and refreshing, it could be a dessert on its own.
Because we have some folks in our family who don't eat dairy, I've made this recipe using both heavy whipping cream and non-dairy whipping cream, and both versions are delicious (though the heavy whipping cream makes a richer whipped cream).
This gluten-free whipped cream treat is so easy to make and only requires four ingredients: heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candy. If you want to get fancy, you can add a drop or two of red food coloring. Using an electric mixer, you beat the ingredients until stiff peaks form. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes!
I serve this delicious low-sodium whipped cream as a topping for hot chocolate, chocolate cupcakes, ice cream and brownies and it is to-die-for. Grab a spoon and enjoy the creamy goodness!

Recipe Notes
- I used a mortar and pestle to crush up a few candy canes. You also could use hard peppermint candies. Feel free to crush some extra to add on top later as an optional garnish.
- If you want to add some color to your cream, you can use a drop or two of red or pink food coloring.
- I used an electric mixer, but you could try to make it without one by using a whisk and beating the ingredients rapidly until peaks form.
- When I used the non-dairy cream (I used Silk brand Dairy-Free Heavy Whipping Cream Alternative), the peaks did not get as stiff but it was still yummy.
- You can easily double this recipe and store it in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You also can freeze it.
Here's how to make it:
- To the bowl of your electric mixer, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and peppermint extract. Beat on medium to high speed until peaks start to form, about 2 minutes.
- Add the crushed peppermint candy. Beat on medium to high speed until stiffer peaks form, about 2 minutes.
- Serve over hot chocolate or your favorite desserts or on its own with a spoon. Top with additional crushed peppermint candy, if desired.
