Chick-fil-a discontinued their chicken salad back in 2017, to the dismay of many. If you were one of those who loved this creamy chicken salad, you're in luck. The chicken restaurant has released their chicken salad recipe. This simple chicken salad recipe has only five ingredients and is ready to eat in about 10 minutes. Plus this chicken salad is packed with protein. (Check out the health benefits of protein.)
To recreate this famous chicken salad recipe at home, you will need chicken breasts, celery, sweet pickle relish, mayonnaise and eggs. The eggs are hardboiled, cooled and peeled. The released recipe calls for Chick-fil-a chicken breasts – grilled or original – but you could cook your own chicken breasts for this recipe instead if you don't want to make a trip through the drive-thru. The ingredients are pulsed in a food processor. Done!
Cooking Tip: If you want to cook your own chicken breasts for this recipe, go for it. You could boil, pan-fry, grill or bake them. You could also add other ingredients to the chicken salad that you like. I always add some chopped red and/or green onion to my chicken salads.
Serve this creamy high-protein chicken salad recipe for lunch or dinner with fries (waffle fries) or chips. Use the chicken salad for a chicken salad sandwich, pile on top of lettuce or stuff it into a tomato or avocado.
Fun Fact: Who doesn't love those Chick-fil-a cows? In 1995, two of those cows painted "Eat Mor Chikin" on a billboard in Atlanta, Georgia. Now they're painting that slogan everywhere!
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes (if you don't have to cook the chicken breasts)
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 Chick-fil-a chicken breasts (original or grilled), cooled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 1/2 full stalks celery (2.5 ounces), washed, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 hardboiled eggs, cooled and peeled
Here's how to make it:
- Put the chicken, celery, mayonnaise and relish into a food processor. Pulse on low-medium for 5 seconds. (The recipe doesn't say to season with salt and pepper, but if you're like me, almost everything needs a shake or two.)
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and continue processing for up to 10 seconds or until the salad is chopped to your desired consistency. (The total time for food processing is 10 to 15 seconds.) Serve. Store the chicken salad in an airtight container in the fridge.
