Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus more for sprinkling
- 2 sticks butter, cut into pieces
Here's how to make it:
- Whisk together the flour and sugar in a bowl.
- Using a pastry blender or two forks, cut the butter into the flour-sugar mixture. Keep working the dough until it forms a ball. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
- Press each half of the mixture into a shallow round baking dish or tart pan. Prick the surface of the dough all over with a fork.
- Bake in a preheated 325-degree F oven for about 30 to 40 minutes or until it is light brown.
- Cut into triangles and allow to cool. Sprinkle with additional granulated sugar, if desired.
Note: You can add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, almond extract or your favorite baking extract to the batter.
