My grandma always had a bowl of sour cucumbers on her counter. And always in the same Corning Ware bowl with the blue flowers on it. I got that bowl when my grandma passed, and this weekend scored some cucumbers that my daughter forgot in my car after our trip to the farmers market. Nostalgia kicked in and these cucumbers and onions in vinegar are now sitting on my counter, just waiting for me to pick out all the onions as I walk by like I did at grandma and grandpa's house.
To my my grandma's sour cucumbers you just need three ingredients: cucumbers, onions and white vinegar. The longer the cucumbers sit in the liquid, the sourer they get. These cucumbers are the perfect sour snack, side dish with dinner or with sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers or to take to a potluck or cookout.
