Amish Chocolate Whoopie Pies Recipe: You'll Yell "Whoopie!" After One Bite of This Easy Whoopie Pie Recipe

Visit Amish country and you're sure to find a whoopie pie. Did you know you can make them at home? This easy chocolate whoopie pie recipe is very manageable for the home cook – and the Amish would approve.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cream the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla together. Add the milk.
  2. In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  3. Make 1/4-cup mounds of the batter on parchment paper-covered baking sheets. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove and cool. 
  4. To make the filling, beat the egg whites until stiff. Add the vanilla, flour and milk. Beat well. Add the shortening and powdered sugar and beat until thoroughly combined. 
  5. Mound the filling between the cooled chocolate cakes.
