This classic spinach dip recipe is a must-have at all our family functions – from baby showers to holidays to birthday parties. This creamy spinach dip recipe is so easy to prepare and is always a crowd-pleaser. It will be on the table this Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and during the big games.
The spinach dip is super simple to prep and prepare. For this cold dip you'll need a box of frozen chopped spinach that's been thawed and squeezed dry, sour cream, mayonnaise, dry vegetable soup mix and chopped green onions. The only prep is squeezing the moisture out of the spinach and chopping the green onions. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and it's done. The dip is better when it sits about one hour before serving so the dried vegetables in the soup mix can soften and the flavors can blend.
While you snack on this classic dip, check out the health benefits of spinach. Serve this creamy spinach dip with crackers (we like Wheat Thins), tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes plus 1 hour to chill
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time 1 hour and 5 minutes
Servings: 15
Ingredients
- 10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 16 ounces sour cream
- 1 cup mayonnaise (I use Hellman's Real Mayonnaise)
- 1.4 ounces (1 packet) dry vegetable soup mix (I use Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix)
- 4 green onions, chopped
Recipe Notes
- Some like to add chopped water chestnuts to this spinach dip. I save those for my stir fries, so I skip them.
- Be sure to squeeze as much water as you can out of the spinach before adding it to the rest of the ingredients.
- I usually use Knorr brand vegetable soup mix, but have used Lipton in a pinch.
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
- Mix well. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
