To make this homemade macaroni and cheese for dinner or lunch today you will need just three simple ingredients from the fridge and pantry. Grab some elbow macaroni, half and half or milk and cheese. The pasta noodles are cooked in the half and half, which results in the creamiest mac and cheese ever. To save time, I buy pre-shredded cheese for this high-protein recipe. Variation: If you prefer to bake your mac and cheese, no problem. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and pop it under the broiler until the top is browned, about 2 to 3 minutes.

- 16 ounces elbow macaroni
