How to Make Instant Pot® Hard-boiled Eggs: You'll Never Hard-boil Eggs Any Other Way Again by Donna John
My family loves deviled eggs. One of my most requested recipes is spinach and bacon deviled eggs. But, the process of peeling the eggs always fills me with dread. Anxiety. Avoidance. Especially when making a bunch for Easter!
Don't use really fresh eggs, they say, and the shells will come off easier. Put baking soda in the water, they say, and the shells will just slide off. Add a little vinegar to the water and peeling those cooked eggs will be a walk in the park. I'm calling BS on all of these theories.
If a hard-boiled egg will peel easy is just hit and miss – unless you cook them in an Instant Pot®. If you use your Instant Pot® for just one thing, let it be hard-boiling eggs. It's a hard-boiled egg lovers dream come true.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
- 1 cup water
Here's how to do it:
Pour the water into the Instant Pot®. Put the eggs on the rack inside the pot. If you get the actual Instant Pot® egg rack, place the eggs pointy side down and the yolks will center perfectly.
Cook on manual setting for 5 minutes.
Use the natural pressure release for 5 minutes.
Run the cooked eggs under cold water or put in an ice bath for 5 minutes.
Peel! The shells really will just slide off.
