Pico de gallo, also known as salsa fresca, is one of the easiest fresh salsa recipes to make. In fact, it's so easy, it may not even qualify as a recipe. But boy, is it delicious.
Simple, wholesome ingredients is what makes this homemade pico de gallo the perfect recipe to make anytime. Fresh chopped tomatoes, fresh chopped onion, fresh sliced jalapeno, fresh chopped cilantro and fresh lime juice (fresh!) is mixed together and then seasoned with salt and pepper. That's all she wrote. I told you it was easy to make.
Adjust the amounts of each ingredient to your taste and by how many people you are serving. Serve this fresh pico de gallo recipe as an appetizer or snack with tortilla chips, or spoon over grilled chicken breasts or shrimp. Another idea is to mix it into some sour cream to create a refreshing dip. So easy and so good and a fresh change from regular salsa.

Ingredients
- 2 large tomatoes tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 - 4 jalapenos, seeded and chopped (leave seeds for extra heat)
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 - 2 limes, juiced (or to taste)
Here's how to make it:
- Add the chopped tomato to a bowl. If your tomato has a lot of seeds, you can remove them, if desired.
- Add the chopped onion. You can use white, yellow or red onion.
- Add the chopped jalapeno. Remove the seeds to less heat. Add as much as you like!
- Add the chopped cilantro. If you don't like cilantro, leave it out.
- Squeeze in fresh lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Taste and add more lime juice, salt and pepper, if needed. Stir and refrigerate until ready to serve.
