DIY Garden Lighthouse: A Fun Project to Light Up Dad's World This Father's Day! Father's Day Do-It-Yourself

I have been promising my father I would make him a garden lighthouse for years and this year I finally did it! He knew I was making it and couldn’t help but try to be around for every step of the process. Make it as a surprise or make one with your dad this Father’s Day!

You’ll need:

  • painters tape
  • brushes
  • paint (exterior paint is a must)
  • glue (I used Gorilla glue)
  • 3 terra cotta pots in varying sizes and a matching tray for the smallest pot (pro tip: stack them in the store before you buy so you know they’re the right sizes)
  • 1 small solar garden light

Here’s how to make it:

Paint all the pots in whatever base color you choose (you may need to do two or three coats). Let it dry.

Apply tape all the way around under the rim of the pot.
Paint a secondary color (may also require multiple coats). Let dry and remove tape.
Glue the stack together. Glue the light to top of the stack. Admire!

Happy Father's Day!
