What's the Real Secret to Healthy Skin? It's All in the pH Balance! by Kirsten Jacob
Skin health depends upon pH balance, a measure of ratio between acid and alkalinity. Skin prefers a pH of around 5.5, which is fairly acidic. The scale runs from 0 (total acid) to 14 (total alkaline).
In the quest for a perfectly cleansed face, it's easy to use products that are too alkaline. This strips the essential acid mantle from skin, leaving it dry, tight and prone to breakouts and other problems. Doing this daily can compromise complexion by letting damage accumulate. Use creamy cleansers that are pH balanced, even on oily skin.
