Another Baby? 3 Things to Keep in Mind When It Comes to Older Siblings Second Baby Preparing for Baby

Having another child brings a new dynamic to your family. We are four days new to this, and making sure older siblings are happy is so important. Here's some recommendations for keeping the peace!

  • Talk to them. Discuss what’s going on and how they fit in with a new baby.
  • Give them Mama time. Babies need a lot of attention, and when your body feels like it has been hit by a car after childbirth, getting the motivation to play with an energetic 3-year-old is difficult, but so important. Let them know you’re still here for them.
  • Everything they do around Baby is not wrong. There is so much temptation to say “no” to everything a younger sibling wants to do. "Can I touch Baby?" "Can I hold Baby?" Find ways to say “yes.”

Let them know they are still important and enjoy this exciting time!
