The Buddy Bench is "a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground." If a child sits on the bench alone, other kids know that he or she is looking for a "buddy" to play with. This beautiful idea came from a 10-year-old boy named Christian Bucks in 2013, and his story soon went viral. Today, you’ll find Buddy Benches on elementary school playgrounds across the U.S. and around the globe.
