Protecting and shielding our children from life (also known as helicopter parenting) may actually cause problems for kids. A study published in Emerging Adulthood found that low self-worth and engaging in risky behaviors like binge drinking and smoking may be an effect of helicopter parenting.
"Overall, stepping in and doing for a child what the child developmentally should be doing for him or herself, is negative," said Larry Nelson, professor of family life at Brigham Young University.

I know what my kid doing and yes I am allowing them to climb up the slide or play in the puddle or mud. My buddy makes helicopter noises when they come around him to make them go away
