How to Teach Kids to Care During the Holidays (& All Year Long)! by Deb Lowther

Teaching my kids to care about others and to give back seems to have happened naturally and slowly over time. 

• Too many daughters and too many Barbies in our house sparked us to use birthdays as a way to collect for others and to give back. 
• Too many apples while baking Thanksgiving pies and a new tradition of giving away a "thankful pie" was born. 
• Small things like throwing coins in donation cups are important teachable moments for my kids. 

When they do show the initiative to give, I make sure I am their proudest cheerleader.
