Who isn't enthralled – or at least curious about – sharks? Every year I look forward to Shark Week. My youngest was born during Shark Week in 1997. My doctor made the mistake of telling me to take my time on checking out the day I was released. The nurses took my newborn daughter to the nursery, brought me a red Popsicle™ and I watched Shark Week until my husband got impatient and said he was on his way to pick me up. Why was I taking so long? The family that had been waiting for me to get home had already left by the time I got there. Yes, this is a true story.
Now, as an empty-nester, I'm still curious about sharks and love to watch all the shark documentaries. But instead of hiding out, I'll simply print out these jaw-some coloring pages of sharks, grab a glass of wine (or maybe a Popsicle™) and have some me time. Coloring is a wonderful mindfulness activity, no matter what you're coloring. These free printable shark coloring pages are for adults and kids, and are sure to please any shark or marine life lover.
Don't know much about sharks? Here are some interesting facts about great white sharks to sink your teeth into:
- Wondering why you've never seen a great white shark in an aquarium? Great white sharks do not do well in captivity. Many aquariums have tried to keep a great white shark in captivity, but almost all have failed.
- Great white shark babies (called pups) are over 4 feet long when they're born, and are immediately independent.
- Great white sharks can smell one drop of blood in 25 gallons of water from miles away.
Mom and Dad, for a fun day or evening with the kids, print out these shark activity pages, grab the kids and a box of colored pencils or crayons, and get to coloring. You can even make a fun shark-shaped sandwich to fit the theme! Don't have kids or home alone? Do it anyway with an adult beverage, or whatever you enjoy sipping on. Happy coloring.
