Tulip Time Festival in Bowral: One of Australia's Oldest & Best-Loved Floral Festivals by Fiona Whiley

Every year we have the Tulip Time Festival in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands of NSW (about 90 minutes south of Sydney). People come by the bus load from all over NSW to see the tulips in Corbett Gardens and Bendooley Street Bowral. The entry free is around $12 for an adult and $7 for pensioners and children.
As a local, I am allowed free entry to the garden, and I love to go there each year and see the displays, which change annually. The festival runs for the last two weeks in September, starting with a full street parade on the opening Saturday, which is a favorite event for young and old. Sometimes they host different community events during the festival in the gardens like markets, or “dog’s day out” where you can take your dog into the gardens with you (it is a dog-free area).
One year they had a night market in the gardens which were all light up, and there were food stalls to buy your dinner at, which was fantastic. Usually for at least a couple of days the local radio station hosts breakfast in the gardens, and entertainment throughout the festival is provided by local school bands and orchestras.
