As parents, we are always busy. Work, school, after-school activities, doctor visits, etc. We rarely have time to unwind for ourselves let alone make time for others. Yet every now and then you find that someone in the world who wants to be the change, wants to make a difference, no matter how tough it is.
Almost six years ago I decided I would make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. I started out with $18 and a dream. The first week I fed 18 people sandwiches, chips and bottled water. Yes, with $18 and a thrifty Dollar Store.
My dream turned into a vision. Before I knew it, I was setting up tables and feeding lines of hungry people. At that point I knew I was walking in my purpose. Every time my hand reached out to pass a hot meal, clean clothes or a fresh bottle of cold water in 100-degree weather, I knew the calling was upon me. I could feel it in my heart. Through smiles, through gratitude, through the faces of young children (their frowns turned into smiles), I knew I was making a difference.
Today I have been blessed to start a nonprofit, The Green Team Helping Hands, that feeds hundreds a month! Moms, you can take care of your families and have your dreams. too! Live your best life.
