My 12-year-old son asked me to go to the playground today. I jumped at the chance, because these days, requests like this are rare. He hung on the monkey bars and climbed the structure; his big, beautiful body in mid-air reminding me how quickly time has flown. I welled up in tears. Why was I so lucky to receive this gift from him today? 

Driving home, he asked me if I was glad we went. I told him it made my day. Five minutes later, he asked if I really meant what I said. I assured him that I did. I will always treasure these moments.
