Can't Concentrate? Here's a Simple Trick to Banish Anxiety & Re-engage Your Ability to Focus! Motherhood

Ever notice how you can't concentrate when you're super stressed? Emotional stress causes the limbic system to hijack the brain and literally shut off the pre-frontal cortex, site of concentration and memory. The next time you or your child is truly upset, try this:

  • Put your first two fingers lightly on the webbed spot between the thumb and forefinger of the opposite hand.
  • Say out loud, "Even though I'm feeling __ about __, I love and accept myself. And the truth is, I can handle this."

Voila! Your limbic system has just been put in its place. Works like a charm for many an adult and kid alike!

@allisonpeacock. Me, I'm never stressed. But just in case I ever am I will try this. Thanks.

I've used this so many times with amazing results. It's great for the stressed "I can't find my homework/keys/schoolbook kiddo, as well as for those triggered by PTSD or panic attacks.
