Work-From-Home Help: How to Make Working From Home Successful When You Have Kids Career

Having children can complicate work-from-home environments. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a full-time or part-time endeavor, something you have built over the past decade or more or something you’re about to embark on, the busier the house, the more complicated this job will be. If you want a successful work-from-home situation to provide for your family, consider the following tips:

  • Create a specific workplace. Your children should know this is not a play area and when the door is closed, you are essentially off limits.
  • Establish a workable schedule. Kids are going to distract you. It requires great discipline to work from home, and you may not be able to do straight 9-to-5 hours.
  • Carve out time for your children. Throughout the day, spend a few moments with the kids. They know you're home. This helps them realize how important they really are.
  • Create work for your kids. By assigning "tasks" to your kids, they can feel part of the working process.

Yes to creating a workspace for kids. I loved having my kids near me, but busy, as I worked from home. Perfect way to balance it. Always keep art supplies on hand to keep things interesting for kids. Thanks for the great tip, KLA Schools of Plainfield !
