Building Your Legacy: How Are You Living Your Life Right Now? Faith & Spirituality

What's your legacy?

I was on Facebook this morning, and I saw a young man had passed away. I did not know this young man, however, his passing affected someone I love dearly. I took a moment to look at the photos, read all the beautiful comments and kind words from others. I could feel the heartbreak and sorrow from this loss.

By the time I was done reading the comments, I, myself, was touched and emotional. He seemed like a wonderful young man. It made me reflect and think:

  • How do you want to be remembered?
  • What do you want people to say to your children about you?
  • Did you impact somebody's life in a positive way?

You create your legacy by how you live your life today and how you treat others. You never know how your life will directly or indirectly impact another. It was very apparent that this young man treated others with dignity, respect, patience, kindness, empathy and compassion. He appeared to love everyone and everyone loved him.

I can't do much, but I can say a prayer for his family, friends and loved ones. In time, God will heal the brokenhearted and give peace, and above all, understanding. I can also make a concerted effort to make somebody’s life better – by doing better, being better and living better.

What will others say about you? How are you living?

What a powerful post, Laura Allen-Davis . You are so right in that we have the power to make a difference every day. How do we want to be remembered? Are we living that truth every day? Many thanks for asking these questions. We should all pause and consider them, and then live accordingly.
