Unhappy at Work? You May Be the Reason! Here’s Why! Career

There are several valid reasons why employees are unhappy in their jobs: they’re bored, they’re overworked, they’re underpaid, their bosses are unbearable. But what if none of the above are the issue and you’re still unhappy at work? Could it be that it’s not your position that’s making you unhappy? Could YOU be the problem?

According to Forbes’ Stacey Lastoe, this could actually be a good thing, because when the problem is internal, you have the power to make changes. For example, you might be unhappy at work if you take things personally or expect things to happen overnight. Self-reflection is important when trying to determine whether or not your position is the right fit for you. Take time to reflect on your attitude and approach.

“No matter what, you shouldn’t default to assuming it’s your job that’s the problem. When it comes to career growth and success, taking ownership is part of the foundation," writes Lastoe in the article "It's Not Your Job, It's You: The Real Reasons You're Unhappy At Work."
