'Tis Not the Season to Stress Eat: 4 Simple Ways to Curb Overeating During the Holidays Holidays

Holiday treats are tempting, especially with the added stress of the season. Here are four tips to help you avoid holiday stress eating:

  1. Keep snacks and water with you at all times. In your purse, your car, your baby bag, at work … wherever. When you feel a craving coming on, eat your healthy snack FIRST, wait 10 minutes and then see if you still want what you shouldn’t.
  2. Stay hydrated. Can't stress this enough. Water keeps energy steady, quells hunger and absolutely improves your mood when you feel it slipping away.
  3. Don’t keep junk food at home. I know you don’t want to “deprive” your family, but really, they’ll be OK. A healthy mommy and daddy are much better. Junk food doesn't make you feel better, in the end, it makes you feel worse.
  4. Look away! You see it. You want it. But avert your eyes. Even better, walk away. Don't put yourself in the way of temptation. You can’t eat it if you can't reach it!

I know it's easy to say, and to write, but I know from experience that if you can hold onto your workouts, and not go overboard with the eating, you feel better before, during and AFTER the holidays. Happy holidays amazing you!
