Recharge, Mom & Dad: How & Why to Have a Social-Media-Free Weekend!

I know how hard it can be to put down that smartphone! Yet for the past two years I’ve done just that every weekend so I can slow down and “smell the roses.” Disengaging digitally helps me find more enjoyment with my kids, my yard, my friends and my bike! Try this:

  • At 5 p.m. on Friday, post a goodbye to your followers for the weekend.
  • Then, don’t even think about the Internet for two days.
  • A quick 9 a.m. Monday check-in will bring you back to what the rest of the world is up to.

And a weekend of digital peace and quiet means you tackle it with a fully recharged internal battery!

Love this idea, and challenge accepted, Allison Peacock . I left my phone at home by accident the other day when I went to the store. You would have thought something major had happened. lol When I got home, I realized the world had continued to spin while my phone and I were separated. Think entire families need social-media-free weekends sometimes.

You are so right, Allison Peacock . The thought terrifies me, though! I will take a baby step of one day and see if I don't get the shakes, LOL! LMK how it goes for you, Donna John !

You can DO this, Elisa All Schmitz 30Seconds! I find if I don't do it at least a couple of times a month I end up needing a whole week unplugged to get back in balance. And that's not good for the email inbox to have that happen!

I will definitely give it a try, Allison Peacock - you have convinced me! xoxo

I love this. We are missing so much in our own lives by being connected all the time. I always feel better when I disconnect.

Amen. I'm going to give this a whirl! Thanks Allison!
