A Twist on Tummy Time! Alternative Tummy-Time Positions for Babies Recommended by a Pediatric Physical Therapist by Cheryl Leahy

Since the introduction of the "Back to Bed" campaign, many babies spend a lot of time on their backs, which has caused an increase in flat and misshapen heads. Tummy time is incredibly important for newborns! But many infants don't like to be flat on their tummies with their faces toward the ground.

There are alternative ways to strengthen their necks: you can place them across your legs or prop them up on a nursing pillow. I learned these positions from a pediatric physical therapist. Just make sure that your little one is supervised at all times, and always consult your doctor with concerns!
