Feeling Helpless Over Another School Shooting? How to Use Your Phone to Promote Gun Safety! by Heather Murphy-Fritz
I found myself once again staring at the television and waiting for another casualty total. I watched videos of students running through parking lots, consoling each other, and others of anxious parents waiting to find their missing student. I cannot even begin to count how many times I have watched this same scene play out on television, except with a different school and different faces.
Valentine’s Day will never be the same for the students, family members and friends of Parkland, Fla. Like every other shooting, I memorized the victims’ faces. I read their biographies. I heard their parents’ tearful pleas. We must act and not just pray for these victims. We must speak for our children.
Write your legislators and ask them to pass meaningful gun reform. Donate to causes that support gun safety. Text ACT to 64433 to join Moms Demand Action/Everytown for Gun Safety. It takes less than a minute to turn into an activist. You can then input your zip code so that you can remain informed on what is going on in your community to enact gun reform and keep our children safer.
It may just save a life – maybe yours.
