Have a Bloody Nose? Here Are 5 Treatment Tips for Nosebleeds! Family Health
If you get a bloody nose, here’s what to do!
- Sit down and keep your head higher than your heart.
- Apply pressure to the nostrils for five to 10 minutes. This can seem like forever but don’t let up as it can interfere with the coagulation process.
- If pressure alone doesn’t work, hold a cold pack over your nose and cheeks and continue to apply pressure to the nostrils.
- Don’t lie down or tip your head back, as this can cause blood to drain into your stomach and result in vomiting.
If your nose hasn’t stopped bleeding after 20 minutes of pressure, call your doctor.
