When Starting a Fire, Dress for Safety: 3 Important Things to Know! Safety

One of the most dangerous times to be around a fire is when it is being ignited. The person igniting the fire should wear protective clothing including:

  • non-flammable clothes
  • gloves
  • possibly a face shield

All others, especially kids, should be at a safe distance until the fire has started. It’s also important to not use gas or lighter fluid to start a fire as these are unpredictable and could cause damage and injury.

We had a fire at the house Saturday night. It's always good to be reminded about safety around fires. Thanks Dr. Heidi Renner!
