Coronavirus Quarantine Got You Feeling Restless? Here Are 4 Tips for Staying Active During COVID-19 Fitness

Are you feeling cooped up? Are you restless? Many Americans find themselves struggling with staying active during the coronavirus (COVID-19) stay-at-home orders that are still in place across a number of our nation’s communities. During this crisis, it is important that you and your family stay healthy and engage in regular physical activity.

With gyms and many parks closed to the public, it can be hard to find outlets to let out energy and stay in shape. Here are some tips on how you and your family can stay active while also following social distancing guidelines:

1. Ride bicycles. Bicycling is a great source of exercise and can be a fun family activity. Be sure to wear face protection and stay the appropriate distance from other people.

2. Online workouts. Many internet platforms, like YouTube, contain vast libraries of free workout videos for all ages. Try to set aside some time every week to try a new workout.

3. Running or walking. Not only are these great sources for physical activity, they also have the added benefit of getting you out of the house for a short period and giving you a good dose of vitamin D from the sunlight.

4. Avoid sitting all day. During commercial breaks or between conference calls, get up and walk a lap around your house to get your blood flowing and keep your muscles active.
