Healthy Snacking for Kids & Adults: 4 Tips to Make the Most of Snack Time Nutrition

At least once a week I stock up on fruit – lots of it. I like to have healthy foods on hand for snacking for myself and the kids. I play my favorite tunes, grab my best kitchen knife, a cutting board and chop away. My kitchen is a mess for about 20 minutes, but all of the fruit is ready for school snacks. Here are some tips for healthy snacking:

  • Wait for sales. Every grocer has them, usually Thursdays, as new stock typically arrives before weekends. (If it's different where you live, find out when they mark things down.)
  • Do not put fruit away when you get home. Wash it immediately and leave it out.
  • Chop away! Have your kids help, but be warned, lots of that fruit will disappear while chopping.
  • Sort into little reusable dishes or storage containers so they are ready to take along – and eat!

Oooh, great tips, Dawn Taylor . I love knowing when things are going on sale. I also think it's a great idea to leave fruit out on the kitchen table. Kids (and parents) eat what's in front of them, so make it easy!

That is so true! I have to get back on track now as I have been slacking so this is a kick in the butt to myself 🤷🏻‍♀️
