Did Your Pediatrician Suggest Ear Tubes? 3 Things You Need to Know! Kids' Health

When a child has chronic ear infections, often the best course of treatment is to have tubes surgically placed in his or her ears by an ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT). Here are few things you need to know!

  • Tubes help to ventilate the ear and allow for drainage so fluid doesn’t get build up leading to an infection.
  • Tubes are usually only in a child’s ear for about six months to a year and will often fall out on their own.
  • In more severe cases an ENT might suggest long-term tubes.

Talk to your doctor about the best course of treatment for your child.
