5 Skin-Soothing Ways to Help When Your Baby Has Summer Heat Rash (aka Prickly Heat)!

Summer is full of outdoor fun. However, babies are more susceptible to heat rash, also known as prickly heat, a red or pink rash found on areas covered by clothing. Why? Because their immature sweat glands can become blocked. Here are five tips to help!

  • Dress babies appropriately for the temperature. Thick clothing traps sweat and heat.
  • Stay in the shade and use air conditioning indoors.
  • Give Baby a cool bath and let skin air dry.
  • Use light moisturizer after the bath, or if rash is already present, consider using calamine lotion.
  • Keep Baby - and everyone - well hydrated.

Always consult a doctor with concerns.
