Summer is full of outdoor fun. However, babies are more susceptible to heat rash, also known as prickly heat, a red or pink rash found on areas covered by clothing. Why? Because their immature sweat glands can become blocked. Here are five tips to help!
- Dress babies appropriately for the temperature. Thick clothing traps sweat and heat.
- Stay in the shade and use air conditioning indoors.
- Give Baby a cool bath and let skin air dry.
- Use light moisturizer after the bath, or if rash is already present, consider using calamine lotion.
- Keep Baby - and everyone - well hydrated.
Always consult a doctor with concerns.
