While diaper rash is, literally, a pain for both parent and child, most diaper rash will go away with time and the proper treatment. Still, there are times when what appears to be diaper rash is something more. Call your physician if:
- the child has a fever unrelated to another illness
- if the raw skin oozes pus
- if the rash is scabbed over
- if the redness is spreading or if there is an abscess or boil
